Travertine is one of the several natural stones often used for paving patios and garden paths, being appreciated for its beautiful natural texture, simplicity and durability. Although it’s less common to see this material being used in interior designs, there are many interesting ways in which the tiles can add character to a space.
A simpler and more versatile option compared to some of the others we’ve mentioned is to have the wall-mounted kitchen cabinets build from end to end and to have open shelves, racks and cubbies installed around them on the adjacent walls as a way to maximize corner spaces.
With the wave of your hand, the sleek glass wall rises to reveal all the cooking necessities including the kitchen faucet and electronic tablet station. Sophisticated backlighting — which comes in a number of colors to suit your mood — comes to life as the door rises and illuminates all the contents. Best of all, when the wall is down, the workspace in front is still accessible, making the area extra functional. It’s the epitome of a hidden kitchen.
Sometimes there’s just no hope to bring a wood floor back to its former glory. But rather than replacing it altogether, give it a thick coat of paint. You’ll keep the texture that a hardwood floor provides while giving your kitchen a whole new look. Just make sure it’s the exterior paint that’s hard as nails and will last you through all the wear and tear.
